Acne Management
Getting to the Root of Your Breakouts
Acne is rarely just a surface problem. While clogged pores and bacteria are the immediate culprits, the factors driving them run deeper. Hormonal fluctuations, excess sebum production, inflammation, diet, stress, and even the skincare products you're using can all contribute. Treating acne effectively means understanding which factors are at play for your specific situation rather than applying a generic protocol.
For some patients, acne is primarily hormonal, flaring predictably around the menstrual cycle or worsening during periods of stress. For others, it's tied to the wrong skincare products or habits that are inadvertently making things worse. Some have a mixture of active breakouts and post-inflammatory marks from previous acne that both need to be addressed. The starting point is always a clear picture of what's going on and why.
Our approach to acne management combines in-office treatments with a realistic, sustainable at-home routine. We don't just treat the breakouts that are currently there. We focus on preventing new ones from forming and improving the overall health and resilience of your skin so it becomes less prone to breaking out over time.

In-Office Treatments for Active Acne
Depending on your skin and the severity of your acne, we may recommend a range of in-office treatments alongside your at-home care. Chemical peels with salicylic acid or similar ingredients are excellent for unclogging pores, reducing bacteria, and accelerating cell turnover. LED blue light therapy targets acne-causing bacteria without heat or irritation. Laser treatments can reduce active inflammation and improve the skin texture damage that acne leaves behind.
For patients with significant acne scarring, treatments like microneedling, more intensive chemical peels, or laser treatments can meaningfully improve the appearance of post-acne marks and textural irregularities over a series of sessions.
We'll map out a clear treatment plan with you that addresses both active acne and any lasting effects from previous breakouts. Managing acne well takes consistency more than anything else, and we'll make sure you understand exactly what you're doing and why, so the results you achieve are ones you can actually maintain.
A targeted, personalized approach to acne that addresses active breakouts, prevents new ones, and improves the long-term health and appearance of your skin.

Will I need prescription medication?
Not necessarily. Many patients see excellent results with in-office treatments and the right skincare routine without prescriptions. For more severe or resistant acne, prescription options may be part of the discussion, and we'll always walk you through the options clearly.
How long before I see improvement?
Most patients notice meaningful improvement within four to eight weeks of consistent treatment. Some flaring in the early weeks is normal as the skin adjusts. Significant clearing and long-term stability typically develops over three to six months.
Can you treat acne on the body as well as the face?
Yes. Body acne on the chest, back, and shoulders responds well to many of the same treatments used for facial acne, including peels, light therapy, and topical protocols tailored to those areas.
What if I've tried everything and nothing works?
There's almost always something that hasn't been tried or hasn't been tried in the right combination. A thorough skin assessment and, where relevant, a hormone panel often reveals contributing factors that have been overlooked. We take difficult acne cases seriously and don't give up on finding a solution that works.
