Description of Bodywork Services
Full-body massages are generally performed in 60 or 90 minute sessions; however, a 30 minute massage focused on a specific area provides opportunities for relaxation thus providing an increase in well-being, reducing stress and boosting the body’s immune system. Services may be combined for your personal needs. Please specify the type of massage you would like at the time of booking. A brief description of some of my services follows:
Medical/ Orthopedic/Therapeutic Massage is used to treat pain and soft-tissue injuries, emphasizing not only assessment and rehabilitation but prevention as well. Evaluation techniques are used to gain a clearer understanding of muscle dysfunction which may be contributing to the issue(s). Massage techniques are then utilized to alleviate pain and return muscle function and increased range of motion. may include the use of one or more techniques such as muscle energy techniques, myofascial release, massage cupping and trigger point to address client specific issues. This process can be painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative. Client feedback during the session is necessary. May or may not include a full body massage depending on the number of issues addressed and the time allotted. Appointments may be scheduled for 60, 90, or 120 minutes.
Massage Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which special silicone suction cups are placed on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. People get it for many purposes, including to help with pain, inflammation, blood flow, relaxation and well-being, and as a type of deep-tissue massage. Cupping can be scheduled for a full session or integrated into any other massage for an additional fee.
Swedish Massage is a basic relaxing full body massage which may include a variety of massage strokes such as rolling, kneading, and percussion to help the body improve circulation. Swedish may also include range of motion stretching. The benefits of this type of bodywork are wide-ranging and include relief from aches and pains, decreased stress levels in the body, enhanced mental clarity, and greater flexibility.
Prenatal Massage is a full body massage during the 2nd and 3rd trimesters that promotes a comfortable low stress pregnancy. Gentle and relaxing, this is a must for moms-to-be. Great for baby too!
Hot Stone Therapy causes expansion and contraction of the circulatory system, improving the function of your lymphatic and immune systems, and enhancing your body’s self-healing mechanisms. This style of bodywork takes you into deep states of relaxation, releasing stress and anxiety, detoxifying the body, and balancing your nervous system. Hot Stone Therapy may be an “add-on” to most services for a small fee.
